In March 2017 :werra: will bring a fresh gust of wind to the Neofolk scene with their new release “vente vent”. Six years after their debut “MMI-MMV” the musicians return with a full-length album that is interconnected by the motive of the wind of change.
The album is comprised of catchy tunes, driving melodies and dreamy songs. It stands in the tradition of its predecessor with both original lyrics and traditional poetry set to music. The band – which has grown into a trio since the debut – continues to bring new accents to traditional Neofolk. Especially the accordion adds more dynamic and depth while preserving the distinctive :werra: sound.

Originally issued in 2004, “Spirit of Sacrifice” was ARDITI’s second full-length album, a release that would not only establish them as one of the leading projects in the Martial Industrial scene, but also one which brought along the controversy that seems to come with such a post. Concerns regarding ARDITI’s imagery and their references to the Italian Futurist Movement prompted some of the press to refuse any coverage of the band, leading to timid promotion for the album upon release, as the original label discreetly retracted from a more active role in its exposure. The name ARDITI gained something of a cult status nevertheless, as their followers grew steadily in numbers and new alliances were forged. These included a colaboration with TOROIDH, at the time a recently established project by Nordvargr of MZ.412, which resulted in the “United in Blood” album. Shortly after, ARDITI would also come to be invited by the notorious Swedish Black Metal band MARDUK to contribute material to a couple of their albums.

On their third album, URZE DE LUME turn inwards for a soothing journey which illustrates not only departure, but also homecoming, meticulously setting to music memories imbued with both nostalgia and longing.
“As Árvores Estão Secas e Não Têm Folhas” is the second and final chapter of URZE DE LUME’s ode to Autumn, in a follow-up to the acclaimed “Vozes Na Neblina” EP released in early 2017.
Although predominantly focused on guitar-based pieces, the leading role in “As Árvores…” is often taken over by the rebec, a bowed stringed instrument whose fiddle-like timbre brings forth an archaic, medieval-like, character to the album’s instrumental canvas, which further expands on occasion to include wind instruments, discreet percussions and bagpipes. The intentionally minimalist aesthetics seem to match the beauty of bare trees to perfection, yet URZE DE LUME’s use of multiple field recordings allows the hues of autumn to embed deeper into the music. Now and then, they turn also to narrated poetry to lead us further into the recesses of remembrance, urging the embrace of loss as one welcomes back nighttime, the cold, and a sense of void for times bygone that the arrival of Autumn inevitably brings about. This is the season where days start to run increasingly shorter and quieter, much like the lives of those to whom URZE DE LUME dedicates this solemn work.
Bonds to both Nature and tradition are at the heart of the band’s rendition of Dark Folk, and both skillfully come together on this acoustic introspective incursion into life’s ever-looming solitude.

A Wolf’s head shape is tearing apart the mist. Howlings in the distance bring silence to an end, the throbbing of blood now resounding in wardrums.
For well over 10 years, ÀRNICA have been patiently carving their niche in the Neo-Folk scene. The genre’s free form aesthetics have served as a perfect starting ground, yet were quickly subdued by ÀRNICA’s own vision as they delved into Iberian lore and tradition to find both a wealth of musical references and the spiritual elements that would shape them into a unique entity.
Well acquainted with the Post-Industrial school of experimentation and sound manipulation, ÀRNICA were quick to make good use of its tools and techniques. Loops, samples and field-recordings merge seamlessly into traditional acoustic instrumentation, adding fine details and rural textures to their vivid portrayal of a world forgotten. This primal legacy to which ÀRNICA are devoted further manifests through the savage drumming, the warhorns and the battle cries, as sound ultimately transforms into a mesmerizing ritual.
Following numerous live appearances, which have brought ÀRNICA to share the stage with bands like WARDRUNA, DEATH IN JUNE, BLOOD AXIS or TYR, the band now join Equilibrium Music for their third full-lenght album, one which successfully captures the raw archaic energy of their shows into recorded form.
Much like an alchemic transmutation of lead into gold, ÀRNICA’s new offering shapes Ur-Folk into Ritual music, distilled under the scorching sun of Iberia to bring one of the most menacing and intense releases ever related to the genre. The Dark Red Seed is the musical outlet of Tosten Larson, guitarist for Seattle dark folk musician King Dude. A self-coined ‘metaphor for the heart’, The Dark Red Seed represents a direct reference to life – and death – itself. The duo, which also includes King Dude engineer Shawn Flemming, is now about to release its debut EP, “The Dark Red Seed Stands with Death”.
Described as ‘a study of death’, “The Dark Red Seed Stands with Death” is a dark, dusty discourse on the departure and ultimate dissolution of life; a powerful expression of absolute loss shaped through Larson’s haunting, Cash-like delivery. Each of the EP’s three songs represents various aspects of death (the death of America, death of culture and death of reality through technology and globalization), drawing on deep feelings and unanswered questions to create living, breathing sound.
“I know when death comes for me I will most likely run away with blind fear,” Larson says. “I’m sure when death comes, I will almost certainly cling to life until my dying breath and pray to someone else’s god for salvation. But in life, I try to approach death as the ultimate acceptance. Whatever death and a possible life thereafter means to each individual, death is the only place where we might find answers. For in life there are only questions. Death is the one thing that awaits us all.”
Raised in Kalispell, Montana and currently based in Portland, Oregon, Tosten Larson began his classical instruction as a young boy sitting at his grandmother’s piano. Firmly rooted in the traditions of American music, Larson’s sound is equally shaped by art rock such as Swans and Six Organs of Admittance, Eastern masters like Kayan Kalhor and Ravi Shankar, and hard rock staples such as Led Zeppelin and Neil Young. Though he wears his influences on his sleeve, his music attempts to defy category and carve its own path.
The Dark Red Seed’s first full-length album, “Becomes Awake”, is already in the pipeline and tentatively scheduled for a summer 2018 release. The record is described as a detailed concept album that can be thought of as an answer or sequel to “Stands with Death”.

En los campos de batalla, los cuerpos que caían muertos, quedaban insepultos.
Nadie podía hacerse cargo de ellos. Nadie excepto los que acompañan al señor de los caídos, ellos eran los primeros en llegar siempre.
Los cuervos y los lobos.
Lobos y cuervos hacían acto de presencia siempre los primeros, como una avanzadilla, como una fría ola que llega desde lo profundo de los bosques y de las montañas. Al olor de la sangre vertida, queriendo llevarse su tributo carnal, los lobos y los cuervos deberán realizar un pago por ese pedazo de carne llevada. Alimento sagrado para animales sagrados.
Dicho pago será el deber de acompañar las almas de los guerreros difuntos al lugar de donde cuervos y lobos surgieron. Deberán acompañar a las almas de los caidos en batalla hacia lo profundo del bosque, hacia lo profundo de la montaña. Y es ahí, que ayudados por la bruma y las nubes bajas que rodean los primeros y antiguos bosques, emprenderan el vuelo acompañados por los cuervos, y sus corceles seran tormentas, y sus nombres serán olvidados, aunque nunca se hayan marchado, como el señor de los difuntos que les capitanea, el que perdió un ojo por el conocimiento secreto primero y se ahorcó para convertirse en el invierno.
Y aunque se les conozca con mil nombres de hueste , de güestia, estantiga o estantigua, cuando se les vea y el incauto pregunte por su nombre, sólo uno le darán a este:
Gente de muertos, somos gente de muerte.
Durante el invierno del 2016 al 2017, The Wyrm ha compuesto y grabado 10 temas que son los 10 cortes de su último trabajo sacado con GH Récords bajo el titulo:
Gente de muertos. Grabaciones, muchas de ellas de campo, recogiendo el ambiente de enclaves mágicos de distintos lugares sagrados que el propio artista ha ido grabando a lo largo del 2016 como pueden ser entre otras, picas de ajusticiamiento, cuevas, heremitorios como el de Civica o distintos lugares de carácter sacro en Burgos, Valladolid, Coria, o castillos como el de Belmonte o el castillo de Alarcón entre otros.

Not only by virtue of its well-known title track can “Death Of The West” be considered a true classic of the Sol Invictus back catalogue. This album, originally released in 1994, was supposed to be a mini CD only, but Tony Wakeford got carried away by the recordings and cut a few old classics with a new livery.
As always, this re-release is limited to 700 copies and comes in a portrait-format Digipak with revised artwork and liner notes. It includes bonus material in the shape of the songs from the mini CD “Above Us The Sun” that was also released back in 1994.
