«United Yet Divided» is the 6th album of DER BLAUE REITER, a Catalan music project that was founded in January 2005. DER BLAUE REITER is Sathorys Elenorth & Cecilia Bjärgö (Arcana / Sophia) , a project which explores the deepest corners and ruins of human existence, where the martial sounds are mixed with orchestrations and classical interludes and devastating environments filled with emotion and sadness.

Between 1945 and 1990, Europe and the rest of the world lived in a cold war. These times were hard for many, easier for others, but it was a time of people becoming divided. For this album, DER BLAUE REITER will move through the world during these years. In reminiscence of the split of Berlin, the air bridge that saved people from starving, of the Budapest revolution, the story of the Berlin wall, the spring in Prague, the crises in Cuba, the dictators of Romania and Spain. Once Europe were split, then they became united….but still more divided than ever.

With the release of „United Yet Divided», you will follow the journey of Sathory Elenorth’s magical music and Cecilia Bjärgö’s lyrics , which will lead you into the history, distant but not forgotten. With the support of Maria Montes and Lady Nott (Narsilion / Ordo Funebris), the music elevates into what DER BLAUE REITER is most known for: the music of neoclassical martial Darkfolk. So let us be United, united in the music and in the world we share!

Lisa Germaine Gerrard (/dʒəˈrɑːrd/; born 12 April 1961) is an Australian musician, singer and composer who rose to prominence as part of the music group Dead Can Dance with music partner Brendan Perry. She is known for her unique singing style technique (glossolalia), influenced by her childhood spent in multicultural areas of Melbourne. She has a dramatic contralto voice and has a vocal range of three octaves.

Born and raised in Melbourne, Gerrard played a pivotal role in the city’s Little Band scene and fronted post-punk group Microfilm before co-founding Dead Can Dance in 1981. With Perry, she explored numerous traditional and modern styles, laying the foundations for what became known as neoclassical dark wave. She sings sometimes in English and often in a unique language that she invented. In addition to singing, she is an instrumentalist for much of her work, most prolifically using the yangqin (a Chinese hammered dulcimer). Gerrard’s first solo album, The Mirror Pool, was released in 1995. She has been involved in a wide range of projects, starting her first collaborative album in 1998 with Pieter Bourke, and then with various artists throughout her career, who comprised Patrick Cassidy, Klaus Schulze, Hans Zimmer, among others. She has scored numerous award-winning motion picture soundtracks.

As of 2020, Gerrard has released four solo albums and collaborated on sixteen albums. She composed and contributed the scores to more than 48 movies. She received a Golden Globe Award for the music score to the 2000 film Gladiator, on which she collaborated with Hans Zimmer. She wrote the score of Balibo which went on to win an ARIA award for Best Original Soundtrack and an APRA Screen music award for Best feature film score. Overall she has won 11 awards receiving 23 nominations. Gerrard has been nominated for a Grammy Award twice…

    Arcana – Raspail (Vinyl, LP)

    Arcana – Raspail (Vinyl, LP)
Label: Cyclic Law – 160th Cycle
Format: Vinyl, LP, Album, Limited Edition
    Country: France
    Released: Apr 25, 2022
    Style: Modern Classical, Ambient

Continuing with the vinyl re-issue of Arcana’s catalog, we proudly present for the first time on vinyl their 6th album «Raspail». Arcana’s approach to neo-classical and symphonic-ambient could well be defined in the meaning of the word “Arcana” itself: specialized knowledge of something generally considered a mystery or a secret. On their sixth album, Raspail, the powerfully moving music of this Swedish quintet creates an atmosphere which weaves together lush elements familiar to Arcana fans old and new. Mystery, silence and revealed secrets are interconnected within these 10 songs.

Comparisons to Dead Can Dance have been made, but it must be said that Arcana’s approach picks up the tangent that DCD left behind and brings it to a new and fully realized place. Lush electronics mix with acoustic guitar, serene piano and intricate oriental percussions. Warm vocals return to the focus: a heavenly blend of baritone and soprano courtesy of Peter Bjärgö and Ann-Mari Thim. In fact, never before has an Arcana album contained so many vocals giving Raspail an emotional touch, a deeper thoughtfulness, a profound feeling of mysterious vision and a sense of secrets.

Standard Edition of 300 copies on black vinyl. 3mm Sleeve, printed inner sleeve, Matt Lamination. 10 Tracks, Running Time 36:28
