David E. Williams – Ensemble Experience Project
David E. Williams – Ensemble Experience Project
Label: Tesco USA – NATO003, Ur Muzik – UR004
Format: Vinyl, 7″, 33 ⅓ RPM, Limited Edition
Country: US
Released: 01 Dec 2010
Style: Art Rock, ExperimentalNearly a quarter-century into a staggering solo career, David E. Williams has decided to join a band. Granted, the David E. Williams Ensemble Experience Project is a band that bears his name, but it still signifies the first time the noir singer-songwriter has collaborated so freely on new songs with other musicians. He wrote these tunes as he normally does – at the piano, in the kitchen, under heavy sorrow – but the final arrangements represent the creative contribution of five people. The result is a David E. Williams release where his trademark absurdity ad profundum is equally matched by organic breadth, pop majesty and catchy subversion. Ltd x 300 copies.

K. – There’s A Devil Waiting Outside Your Door

K. – There’s A Devil Waiting Outside Your Door
Label: Ur Muzik
Format: CD, Album, Limited
Country: Poland
Released: 31 Jan 2012
Style: AmbientSome of you may have already stumbled on K. – the enigmatic artist from Poland released several tracks on different compilations and issued an MCD back in 2007. The obvious reference to Nick Cave on K.’s debut album title is no accident here, but the music of K. also has similarities to such groups as Bohren und der Club of Gore or Heroin and Your Veins. Having its own twist and character, the sound of K. takes you deep into smoky dens where spleen, existentialism, black and white cinema, jazz noir and pulp aesthetics meet in a decadent unison. Ltd x 300 copies in a digisleeve.
