“Nzinga Mbande” is the new album by the African Imperial Wizard collective. It is the soundtrack of the armed liberation from the imperialistic oppression that our continent has endured for far too long.
The “Nzinga Mbande” manifesto consists of eight martial symphonies. They all been have composed enduring pain and suffering and serve the purpose of giving our countries, which have been lacerated and battered by centuries of colonialism, the epic military ceremonies they deserve.
Our main goal with this new musical opus is to hand out orders to our troops and to maintain our military cohesion, the culmination of which will translate to Pan-Africanism and the profound intimidation of our enemies. If you do not sense any danger coming, this could be the first sign of you losing your mind and if you listen carefully, you may already be able to hear the wailing of your dead haunting the battlefields devastated by our armed forces.
Because today more than ever, enough is enough. We won’t stop arming our warlords and their rebel battalions. We won’t stop arming our bloodthirsty mercenaries. We will continue to rely on our proud women warriors, who will follow in the footsteps of our ancestral queens Nzinga Mbande and Sarraounia and will reduce to ashes all those who dare show them and their devastating bastions any resistance. Make no mistake, we will not hesitate to resort to rearming our children. Our child soldiers helped us before, and they will do so again without a moment’s hesitation in the face of what we have had to put up with. We would rather see them die by our side in excruciating pain than letting them fall to your Machiavellian enslaving doctrines.
Nothing has been forgotten of the painful wounds that colonisation inflicted upon Africa. We counted every hand you cut off, every rape, every slave raid, every looting, every torture session, every poisoned watering hole, every crime, every assassination, every mass murder, every massacre, every genocide, every mass grave and every hour of forced labour which you imposed on us. Mark our words: our dead have slowly but surely been counted.
The toll is outrageous, and the abominable numbers speak for themselves and the horror we have been through. But believe us, we are more determined than ever and, may our gods be our witnesses, our vengeance will be all the bloodier. Barbaric invaders, look around you, we are already here, ready to draw our old Kalashnikovs and don’t worry, they do still work, and we can assure you they won’t jam.
Finally, African Imperial Wizard will come to play their most glorious laments in your cemeteries. Our sorcerers will make sacrifices on your graves to the memory of Soundiata. We will glorify the spirits of our great forefathers who fell in battle. The same fate awaits you.

Ole Lukkøye – Zapara Label: Fulldozer Records – FDCD43 Format: CD, Album, Limited Edition, Reissue, Digipak Country: Russia Released: 03 Mar 2021 Style: Darkwave, Psychedelic Rock, Tribal, Fusion
Fulldozer Records presents an extended reissue of the significant Russian album of the 90s – Ole Lukkoye «Zapara», originally released on vinyl in 1993 by the label Antrop. Ole Lukkoye does not need a special introduction: the ethno-electronic band from St. Petersburg, which has existed for more than three decades, is well known to all connoisseurs of world music and psychedelia, not only in Russia, but also far beyond. Since its inception in 1989, Ole Lukkoye has released 8 full-length albums, which were released in Russia, Germany and the United States and received good press coverage. Starting from 1994 the band toured extensively throughout Europe, and five years later met the legendary German krautrock band Faust. The result of this collaboration was the recording and release of the album «Crystal Crow-Bar» in 2000 on the Klangbad label, owned by one of the Faust founders Hans Joachim Irmler, as well as the release of two other Ole Lukkoye albums on this label. The permanent leader and songwriter of the band Boris Bardash, among other things, is known for his participation in the recording of Theodor Bastard’s albums «Pustota» and «Beloe: Hunting For Fierce Beasts». A very special place in the creative heritage of Ole Lukkoye is occupied by the first album «Zapara», recorded in 1993 at the Antrop studio in St. Petersburg with the participation of engineer Yassin Tropillo. The album had a great influence on the sound of famous modern Russian ethno-electronic groups and on the entire Russian world music scene.
As those who have not yet had the opportunity to hear this album and who have heard it for the first time today rightly point out, it is hard to believe that such music was recorded in Russia in 1993. The unique and original sound of the album «Zapara» has absorbed both the influences of the best examples of the 80s darkwave scene and the tunes of various ethnos of the world, as well as the psychedelia of meditative rock and the avant-garde techniques of jazz fusion. Roughly seven musicians took part in its recording, and the range of instruments extends from keyboards, percussion and acoustic and electric guitars to bassoons, cello and banjo. The album’s magical spirit-lifting atmosphere is enframed by hypnotic recitatives in Russian performed by Boris Bardash and Andrei Lavrinenko. The canonical CD version of the album is supplemented with two previously unreleased bonus tracks: the meditative instrumental «Enfilade», recorded in 1993 at the studio of the Leningrad House of Radio, and the first version of the song «Toomze», which was recorded in 1995 at DDT studio in St. Petersburg, but was never included in this form in the eponymous album released a year later.

Lisa Germaine Gerrard (/dʒəˈrɑːrd/; born 12 April 1961) is an Australian musician, singer and composer who rose to prominence as part of the music group Dead Can Dance with music partner Brendan Perry. She is known for her unique singing style technique (glossolalia), influenced by her childhood spent in multicultural areas of Melbourne. She has a dramatic contralto voice and has a vocal range of three octaves.
Born and raised in Melbourne, Gerrard played a pivotal role in the city’s Little Band scene and fronted post-punk group Microfilm before co-founding Dead Can Dance in 1981. With Perry, she explored numerous traditional and modern styles, laying the foundations for what became known as neoclassical dark wave. She sings sometimes in English and often in a unique language that she invented. In addition to singing, she is an instrumentalist for much of her work, most prolifically using the yangqin (a Chinese hammered dulcimer). Gerrard’s first solo album, The Mirror Pool, was released in 1995. She has been involved in a wide range of projects, starting her first collaborative album in 1998 with Pieter Bourke, and then with various artists throughout her career, who comprised Patrick Cassidy, Klaus Schulze, Hans Zimmer, among others. She has scored numerous award-winning motion picture soundtracks.
As of 2020, Gerrard has released four solo albums and collaborated on sixteen albums. She composed and contributed the scores to more than 48 movies. She received a Golden Globe Award for the music score to the 2000 film Gladiator, on which she collaborated with Hans Zimmer. She wrote the score of Balibo which went on to win an ARIA award for Best Original Soundtrack and an APRA Screen music award for Best feature film score. Overall she has won 11 awards receiving 23 nominations. Gerrard has been nominated for a Grammy Award twice…

Wind Atlas’ music has gained in nuances, drifting smoothly from dark dream-pop and new-wave passages (which remind us of Dead Can Dance) to gloomy postpunk atmospheres similar to those of Crispy Ambulance, Durruti Column or In Camera. Music to think of an unknown continent, to look for the lost alchemical formula, to eventually discover Talos the robot hurling rocks at the Argonauts. Music that requires to do nothing but listen, a task that nowadays appears almost impossible.
The message is conveyed in an imagined language from a terra incognita, the lingua ignota. Each song is like an accent or a period, like a comma, a verse, a whole chapter of a liturgical chant. Gibberish for those who relish the best soundtrack by Basil Poledouris and the 4AD catalogue.
The album was recorded in Estudio Brazil (Madrid) with Javier Ortiz and mastered in Yves Roussel Mastering (Barcelona).
“Wind Atlas, if “Ecdisis” is any indication, sound a bit like Sioux Sioux after the Banshees broke up, if she had gone in a more interesting direction. Or maybe if Peter Murphy had started a project with Sioux Sioux? Something like that. Truth is, it doesn’t matter once those early Edge/Chameleons guitars, full of melodic urgency despite their simplicity, hit; the ritualistic feel of the backing turns up their immediacy even more, to the point where the whole composition seems to depend on them.
But that voice, ringing through the ether, also needs something, anything, to happen, lest the sands of time swallow her whole. It’s a mystical, otherworldly trip…“

The Frozen Autumn – Pale Awakening (2 × Vinyl, Blue) Label: Avantgarde Music / AV447LP Format: 2 × Vinyl, Album, Reissue, Blue Country: Italy Released: 2022 Style: New Wave, Synth-pop, Darkwave
Pale Awakening is the debut album by The Frozen Autumn, which originally saw the light in 1995 following the demotape Oblivion and various live gigs in Italy and abroad. These led to the CD release of this concept album with crepuscular sounds, at times inspired by the sound of 4AD and Projekt Records, that unfold between reflective and atmospheric moments, imbued with melancholy with more rhythmic openings, yet always characterized by a common feature: the oniric plane, the certainty of the existence of parallel realities, the escape from everyday life to embark on an inner journey, aware that «there is something beyond».
27 years after the first edition, Avantgarde Music re-releases Pale Awakening in two valuable collectible formats: 12 «colored double vinyl in a gatefold cover with lyrics.
